Self Abuse In The 21st Century
This project is about cycles, circles, patterns and the role that self abuse plays within the endeavors that define our lives
as an American society. Based on the sometimes harsh standards that we impose on our lives, these cycles can turn
into a form of self-abuse that spans the best of our souls-and the worst. Originally based on personal experience, this
project became a realization of our culture, it's downfalls and it's power. In this age of information and the relentless
onslaught of media based reality, we are inflicted with tainted ideas of what we should be and could be, physically, mentally, romantically and financially. All of our efforts, all of our endeavors, whether successful or not can be thought of as cycles of confidence, attempt, success, failure, reproach, healing and starting over.
Within a circle everything becomes endless and monotonous...in an effort to minimize the self and illustrate the process
of growth, I have produced this body of work. This material is best viewed sequentially.
